Canon S95 Vs Panasonic LX5

Not every great photographer uses a digital SLR camera. There are some "close-to-pro" models that have interchangeable lenses. That does not mean you get sub-par quality. No, indeed.

In fact a couple of these "prosumer" cameras are quite modest in appearance, but they are extremely popular as a "backup camera" among professionals, and as the primary camera in the hands of the great photographers who simply do not want to be bothered with the bulk and complexity.

Canon PowerShot S95 and the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 are two of the most highly rated cameras on the market in the prosumer category.

Well, maybe I'm getting ahead of the reviewers, because these two cameras are not formally reviewed by an expert yet. They are also new. However, both are highly rated camera upgrade and maintain the same features and benefits that they got that rating. The main difference in both models is the ability to get HD video.

Side-by-side two cameras seem pretty equal. Canon is a bit smaller, but not by much. Both the 10MP sensor camera lens with excellent quality. And both have a wide aperture of f/2.0, which, if you're not familiar with the terminology of the lens is great for fast shutter speeds to get especially in low light conditions.

With regard to the features you look for in December, they both have enough control settings that can be individually set so that the photographer can get a picture she wanted. In addition, both have the ability to shoot in RAW mode, which a lot of photographers prefer.

differences that may sway you in one way or another:

Canon S95 is cheaper by about $ 30. Panasonic Lumix LX5 faster continuous shooting speed of 2.5 fps against Canon 0.9 fps. Another advantage of Panasonic's broader exposure compensation from -3 to +3 vs only -2 to +2 for S95.

One thing you can not help but notice if you study the comments of experts what high-quality images, and these models produce. High quality is what makes great photos.
